removable dentures

When there are one or missing teeth, our patients have several options to replace them. One of the most known is the removable prosthesis, or dentures.

Removable partial prosthesis

The partial denture is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It is custom made from precise dental impressions. It consists of a metal base on which acrylic teeth are placed. To help retain the prosthesis, clasps from the metal base will attach to the adjacent natural teeth.

Complete prosthesis

Commonly called denture, the complete prosthesis replaces all the teeth on the upper or lower jaw. It consists of artificial teeth mounted on an acrylic support that covers the residual gum and the palate (in the upper jaw). It is held in place by succion, with the oral mucosa providing the seal. Nowadays, complete dentures are the last resort.
