Pediatric dentistry

It is with great pleasure that we warmly welcome all children, from the younger to the oldest, for their dental care. After working for several years in a pediatric dentistry clinic, the Vo sisters have developed a remarkable ease in approach and dental treatment for the little ones.

We apply the well-known technique called Tell-Show-Do to all our children and parents are welcome to accompany the child during the appointment.

A newly erupted permanent tooth, difficult to access for daily brushing

The first visit to the dentist can be done within six months after the eruption of the child's first tooth. It is strongly recommended not to exceed the age of two years for this first visit. Above all, do not hesitate to bring your child to the dentist, regardless of age, if you suspect a problem.

The same tooth is covered with a sealant, making the surface smoother and allowing easier dental hygiene.

On his (her) very first visit, the child will have a thorough examination of the condition of his teeth, but also of his (her) overall oral growth. We can advise you on appropriate preventive care, such as:

• cleaning of teeth
• fluoride applications to enhance enamel and assist in remineralization
• the application of sealing agents that protect the teeth against decay (see pictures on the right)

During follow-up examinations, the dentist will check the evolution of the jaw growth and the position of the teeth and tongue during swallowing. In some cases, consultation with a specialist in pediatric dentistry, an orthodontist, specialist in the treatment of dental malocclusions, or other professionals such as a speech therapist or a physiotherapist may be necessary.

FOLLOW-UP TO THE PRIMARY DENTITION

When a cavity is detected on a primary (baby) tooth, Dr. Jocelyne or Dr. Mireille will discuss treatment options with you. Indeed, it is very important to regularly monitor the primary dentition, as it not only serves for chewing, but also to prepare room for the future permanent teeth. On the other hand, a child with many caries or abscesses may experience difficulties, both at home and at school. This is why it is necessary to repair a decayed or broken tooth, even if it will fall later on.

By repairing the tooth, the dentist fixes a problem and avoids an extraction that is, after all, never desirable.

Do not hesitate to discuss with Dr. Jocelyne or Dr. Mireille for more information!
